Two days after Biden spoke with Putin on the phone and offered to meet in person to talk things out, he then today turned around and slapped new sanctions on Russia, expelled ten Russian diplomats from the United States and — most shocking — declared a National Emergency over Russia’s actions. Reasons given include persecution of journalists, election interference, cyber hacking and not recognizing the territorial sovereignty of other nations, basically projecting all of the U.S.’s crimes onto Russia. When you have over 1,000 military bases around the world and are silencing whistleblowers like Julian Assange, then you have no moral authority to tell anyone else their business. Another reason given was the story several months ago that Russia was paying the Taliban to kill US soldiers, a story that was subsequently blamed on Iraq and then China, a story that the US intelligence community suddenly walked back today after the sanctions were imposed. Will the sanctions now be lifted to make up for this? I doubt it.

Just days ago Russia vowed retaliation in the event of new sanctions and today they called the US Ambassador in Moscow in for questioning and shot down Biden’s request to meet. Since then they have closed the Kerch Strait in the Black Sea for the next six months for “military exercises”, prompting Ukraine’s demands that they reopen the strait. Meanwhile social media is reporting that the ethnic Russian population in Donetsk is once again being shelled by Ukrainian military.

And speaking of the Black Sea, the US canceled the Navy ships that were inbound through the Turkish straits. They denied having ever sent any but Turkey ratted them out and said they canceled with no explanation. At first glance, this might seem like de-escalation, the Empire getting cold feet and realizing they are outmatched but in reality it could have been to stoke the fires even further and then protect their assets because war is exactly what they’re planning on.

With this new national emergency declaration, it’s hard to imagine this situation cooling down. The US is clearly insane and delusional and Russia is fed up with being bullied. A conflict is inevitable. War is imminent. Meanwhile in America, most people still have no clue. As I posted on Twitter earlier today:

The sad truth.
